The Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center staff and volunteers provide basic essentials including food and nourishment to local community members who need it most. These efforts include the food pantry and specialized services for children and the homebound.

The Food Pantry

One of the major ways Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center helps the local community is through the food pantry, with basic food items, but also including vegetables, milk and other necessities that families need, ranging from diapers to pet food. In the last year, more than $1,000,000 worth of food was distributed to over 1,700 people, one third of whom are children.

Daily Living Supplies

We provide personal hygiene items, toiletries and cleaning supplies—as well as dishwashing and laundry detergent.

Weekender Backpack Program

We recognize that some children in our community need added nutrition when they are not in school. Our Weekender Backpack program provides breakfast meals, fresh fruit and veggies, milk from a local dairy, protein, bread and snacks every Friday to nearly 300 school-age children in need residing in Mystic, Stonington, North Stonington and Westerly.

Call (860) 599-3285 for details on how to enroll.

Community Garden

The Frank Terranova Memorial Garden is tended by a group of dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly to supply our pantry with over 2,500 pounds of fresh produce throughout the year — providing many healthy options for our neighbors in need.

Meals on Wheels

Meals are delivered to more than 50 homebound Stonington residents. This service is available Monday through Friday.

Call (860) 599-3285, ext. 105 to register.

Join us for a delicious community breakfast sponsored by the Pawcatuck Lions featuring pancakes, eggs, bacon and toast. Breakfast is served every second and fourth Friday of the month at 8:30 am. All are welcome to attend; no sign-up is required.
