The Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center staff and volunteers provide basic essentials including food and nourishment to local community members who need it most. These efforts include the food pantry and specialized services for children and the homebound.

The Food Pantry

Hours: Monday-Thursday 9am-3:30pm
Friday: Weekender Backpack Program Only

One of the major ways Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center helps the local community is through the food pantry, with basic food items, but also including vegetables, milk and other necessities that families need, ranging from diapers to pet food. In the last year, more than $1,000,000 worth of food was distributed to over 1,970 people, one third of whom are children.

Daily Living Supplies

We provide personal hygiene items, toiletries and cleaning supplies—as well as dishwashing and laundry detergent.

Weekender Backpack Program

We recognize that some children in our community need added nutrition when they are not in school. Our Weekender Backpack program provides breakfast meals, fresh fruit and veggies, milk from a local dairy, protein, bread and snacks every Friday to nearly 300 school-age children in need residing in Mystic, Stonington, North Stonington and Westerly.

Community Garden

The Frank Terranova Memorial Garden is tended by a group of dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly to supply our pantry with over 2,500 pounds of fresh produce throughout the year — providing many healthy options for our neighbors in need.

Meals on Wheels

We deliver meals to more than 50 homebound Stonington residents. This service is available Monday through Friday at no cost for homebound seniors 60+.

For those under 60, contact your health insurance provider – some insurance plans will cover the Meals on Wheels delivery.

Want to Donate? Here's what we need:

We pride ourselves on keeping our pantry fully stocked, but there are particular things that go faster than others. The PNC pantry kindly suggests donations of shelf-stable canned meat like SPAM, chicken, and corned beef hash, as well as soups and Chef Boyardee. Canned fruit and dry cereal also make great donations. Our Daily Living closet appreciates donations of diapers – especially the larger sizes of 5,6,7, and Pull-ups.

Call (860) 599-3285 x102 if you have any questions.

We thank you so much for your kindness and generosity.
